When it comes to getting the most value for your timeshare week, the first step is simple: Book your week early. If you snooze, you lose. You must know the very first day you are eligible to reserve for the next year. Mark your calendar and do whatever it takes to remind yourself on that day. You may have to wake up early if that resort is in a different time zone. If possible, you want to be the very first one to make a reservation. Call and reserve the week that works best for your family vacation. If you have not finalized your vacation plans, reserve the week in your season that has the highest demand. If your plans change, you can always bank the week.
 
Even if you plan to exchange your timeshare week, it pays to book early. Reserving the highest demand week in your season will also increase the trading value. Both RCI and II recommend that you deposit your resort week as early as possible, up to one year before it starts or two years if your resort participates in the Early Deposit program. An early deposit always improves your chances of a favorable match.
