Welcome to Summer 2008 at Beautiful Lake Tahoe ! Thank you for reading our newsletter. I would like to update our readers as to the status of the Convention Center and Chateau at Heavenly Project.

After the project broke ground June 2007, excavation work was completed and the foundation was laid. But work stopped over the winter and has not resumed. Completion had been scheduled for this fall or winter 2009. A Bay area Bank had made a commitment to finance the project but in November Lake Tahoe Development Co, (LTDC) received a letter saying the bank decided against funding the project. LTDC, the developer of the stalled Convention Center project is looking to foreign investors to finance the project and may consider shelving the project until financial conditions improve. The project costs 1.2 million each month, so shelving it isn't a preferred alternative. Randy Lane managing partner of LTDC remarked that investors might be more interested in financing the project if a more high-profile operator was brought in. This could mean that Rock Resorts will be replaced. Rock Resorts is a luxury hotel company owned by Vail Resorts Inc, which owns Heavenly Mountain . Lane is looking at whether the convention center portion of the project could be built first, with the hotel- condominium to come later. LTDC has invested nearly $100 million and is seeking a new loan of about $200 million for the first phase.
