| Measure L Voted Down |

Last month we reported on the controversial Measure L
that called for an additional property
tax of $60 per year on every parcel number in South
Lake Tahoe, California. 49% of the district's 13,457
registered voters turned out to cast their ballots for
Measure L that required a two-thirds majority to pass
the tax. The official count was 3652 or 55% for and
2976 or 45% against. Two opposition groups, "Lake
Tahoe Taxpayers Against Measure L" and the "No on L
Committee", raised a total of $89,530 to help defeat
the measure. Most of the money was spent on full-
page newspaper ads showing the inequities and
unfairness of the tax. It was a nice victory for
timeshare owners. Thanks for all of your great
