The timeshare market can be very confusing to the
first time buyer. One of the first choices to
make is
whether to purchase a fixed week, a floating week, or
a points program. If you usually vacation at the same
time every year and are interested in returning to the
same location frequently, a fixed week will suit you
best. This way you know the week the timeshare will
be available to you and exactly what unit you will

vacation in the same location frequently but your
vacation times change from year to year, a floating

The type of timeshare you own will affect your

for exchanging, you need to know the exchange value
of the week you want to obtain and be sure that it will
valuable enough to complete your desired exchanges.
In order to properly plan your exchanges, you need to
accurately predict the exchange value of your week.
With a fixed
week, the use period is the same every year. The
exchange value will generally be the same every year
unless the week periodically includes a major holiday.
The actual exchange value will also vary depending on
how early you deposit the week with an exchange
company. You can deposit a fixed week with an
exchange company as far in advance as they will allow,
usually up to two years. With a floating week, the
exchange
value will depend on the demand for the week that you
reserve to deposit into your account. You can't do
this
any earlier than the resort will allow reservations to be
made. That is why it is important to deposit early.
