Debra Goodyear, one of our timeshare experts, has this
advice to share if you are unable to use your timeshare
week either at your home resort or for trade.
"Your main objective will be to recapture your annual
expenses (maintenance and taxes). If you can't rent
out the week yourself, you have an option of putting
your week up for rent at your home resort or through a
rental service local to your home resort location.
Understand your resort's rental policy before making a
decision."
"Timeshare resorts with rental services typically charge
40-50% for their services. Whereas, a local rental
service typically charges 20-30% for their fees.
Regardless of who handles your rental, total recapture
of your expenses is not always possible, you can
expect that sometimes only 2-4 days of your week will
rent out."
"To maximize your rental value, reserve a Holiday or
Prime time week at your resort. Best months of the
year are generally August, July, February and March."

Lake Tahoe was fortunate to have several of our young
men and women participating in this year's Winter
Olympics. Some are even bringing home medals.
Congratulations to all of our competitors! As for me, I'm
on "injured reserve" currently recovering from a dirt bike
incident. I think I need a vacation... fortunately, I
